Techies4TempleStreet is a unique charity event bringing together the Irish business community to network and compete in an intellectually challenging treasure trail, while making an impact to the lives of the brave heroes of Temple Street Children's Hospital.
Since the event began in 2015, Techies4TempleStreet has raised over €1.1million for the hospital and these funds have made a huge difference in the lives of our patients and their families. These funds have contributed to the construction of a new Renal and Neurology Outpatients Unit which sees 6,000 patients per year. They have also purchased essential equipment for the hospital including 2 biochemistry analysers - essential equipment for our labs which support every dept. in the hospital - and 2 surgical drills, making surgery safer and more efficient for our little patients.
Our Outpatients Department revamp benefitted from the funds raised in 2018 and last year, the incredible €270,000 raised was used to purchase a Mass Spectrometer. This instrument allows the Microbiology laboratory to identify bacteria from isolates grown from clinical samples within 30 minutes, as opposed to 24 hours which was required previously. Most clinical laboratories in Ireland have switched to this method of identification; this purchase ensures that Temple Street Hospital is kept up to date with technological advances
Techies4TempleStreet is a vital part of the Temple Street calendar and the funds raised make an invaluable difference here, improving the hospital experience for thousands of patients every year.
